About this Item

"1910" to copyright page; no other dates. The very-good book will close its own text block -- here and there a small rough spot where the pages tried to adhere together, but none affecting any art or text. The near-fine original dust jacket shows some scattered foxing. (Needless to say, original, full-color, collectible-condition jackets on pre-1920 books are uncommon and sought-after.) The bottom of the original cardboard box is OK (two corners re-glued), while the top -- while intact as to the color illustration of the Knight of Snowdoun kissing the lady's hand -- is missing one of its shorter side panels and part of the adjacent long side-panel; call the box "Fair." The practical reader may wonder how on earth she can wander around the woods and dusty castle corridors wearing a trailing white gown and remain so completely spotless, while the hero's outfit may occasionally bring to mind Mel Brooks' "Men in Tights," but the full-color Christy plates are lovely representations of the Edwardian era, as advertised. Epic poetry; unpaginated but of about 85 pp. Reduced from $380. Bookseller Inventory # 004783
