Brown leatherette cover with title in red on spine. The complete title is "The Lady of the Manor, being a series of conversations on the subject of Confirmation intended for the use of the middle and higher ranks of young females, by Mrs. Sherwood in four volumes." The cover is worn and the outer binding slightly split. The inner pages show considerable foxing, some rough cuts, yellowing, and spotting. The back flyleaf is water damaged. The text is unimpaired. It should be noted that the interest in this book was not in the author's injunctions but in her stories about young women getting into mishaps. Bookseller Inventory #
