About this Item

This is a large quarto - 8-1/4 inches by 11-3/4 inches which has been rebound in it's original gilt decorated green cloth. The covers' hinges, both internally and externally, are perfectly attached. There is a little wear to the bottom of the spine and some rubbing to the corners - else tightly bound with very good, unworn and unbumped edges. The gilt lettering and decorations on both the cover and the spine are still bright. There is a small library label on the spine. All 25 color illustrations are intact. The pages and plates are still clean and crisp but there are varied amounts of foxing to the plates. The plates are: Dungeon Gill Force; Coniston Water and Coniston Old Man; Lake Windermere (Winandermere); Winderemere - After The Regatta, From Orrest Head, Water-Head; Rydal Water; Grasmere - From Loughrigg Fell; Brothers' Water; Hawes Water and Wallergill Force; Langdale Pikes; Thirlemere, or Wytheburn; Ulleswater, From Gowbarrow Park; Wast Water; The Vales Of Ennerdale And Buttermere; Ennerdale Lake; Buttermere; Crummoch Water; Lowes Water; The Derwent River And Borrowdale; Derwentwater; The Druidical Circle Near Keswick; Bassenthwaite Lake, Vale, And Village; The Vale Of Keswick, Bassenthwaite Lake, And The River Greta; Skidaw. There is the previous private owner's bookplate on the inner cover. Bookseller Inventory # 9961
