Original light orange cloth with orange paper on spine with black lettering. Dust jacket is yellow and off white with black lettering on front and back covers and spine. 5 3/4 X 9 inches. 318 pages. Deckled edges. 32 black and white plates depicting different authors, president and playwrights. Philip Ashton Rollins, Ben Holliday (Builder of the first railroad in Oregon), Dr. Fred Lewis Pattee, Chard Powers Smith and Eva Emery Dye to name a few. A map of the United States are on the endpapers of the front and back covers. Dust jacket is slightly chipped on the front corners. Jacket is in protective clear plastic.
