About this Item

Quarto. (12)ff., + 4 full-page illustrations from watercolors by Gunnar Kaldewey. One of only ten copies comprising the deluxe edition, which is specially bound and adds three original watercolors. The 84th publication of the Kaldewey Press presents a poem by the 12th-century troubadour, Jaufre Rudel, whose characteristic theme was "love from afar." The present work, whose title translates to "When the days are long in May," continues that theme. Printed in the original Old French, with an English translation by Paul Blackburn laid in. Bound by Thomas Zwang in orange velour backed and trimmed in black morocco, and with a yellow morocco lettering piece on the upper cover stamped in red. Extremely fine in grey chemise and slipcase.
