The book has these points for the First Edition, Second State: 1940 on the copyright page with no additional printings listed, Marguerite Kirmse is the illustrator, the thickness of the text block is 1 and 1/4 inches thick. The thickness of the text block on the First Edition, First State is 1 and 1/2 inches thick. Leads one to think there was a change in the heft of the paper used during the print run. All that said, the yellow/organge cloth binding with a portrait of Lassie on the front cover shows light shelf wear. Some minor surface soiling to both boards. The text/illus pages are tight and clean with no marks, no scribbles, no crayon. Some age-toning to the front and rear end sheets. Name in ink inside the front cover. A number of lower case letters in ink inside the rear cover at the extreme bottom foredge corner. No dust jacket. Photos and/or additional information available upon request.
