Publisher's gray decorated cloth binding with red and gilt label on spine, dust jacket protected by mylar, paper covered slip case. The book is in fine condition, the dust jacket is unworn but has some brown spots on spine. Slip case also has brown spots and some rubbing. 513 pages with several in line illustrations, dimensions 7 1/2 x 11 inches. From colophon, "Of this edition of "The Last Days of Pompeii" fifteen hundred copies have been made for the members of the Limited Editions Club by Giovanni mardersteig at the Officina Bodoni in Verona, the Illustrations having been cut by Kurt Craemer. This copy is number 178 and it is signed by the printer and the illustrator". Edward Bulwer-Lytton (1803-1873) was a very popular and prolific novelist, poet and playwright. This novel, one of his most popular, is set in the Ancient Roman city of Pompeii, immediately before its destruction by the volcano Mt. Vesuvius. Bookseller Inventory # 016202
