About the Author: Carolyn Simpson Baker has been an educator for more than twenty-five years. Upon completion of her undergraduate degree from Longwood College in Virginia, she taught in Indiana, Florida, and Tennessee. She attained a master s degree from Rollins College in Florida and went on to earn a doctorate in education from Vanderbilt University in Tennessee. Carolyn founded the Nashville Catholic Middle School Forensic League and coached the forensic team at Overbrook School for 14 years. She has been an adjunct instructor for Aquinas College in Nashville and the University of St. Thomas in Houston, Texas. Her interest in children with Down syndrome began after her brother, Mark, was diagnosed with the condition. Carolyn has two daughters and currently lives with her husband, Clark, in Houston, Texas.
