Cream buckram with dark green decoration simulating ironwork on a gate to front cover. Title in gilt on front cover and spine. Top edge gilt. Condition: Good, with general soiling to covers and sunning to spine. Cover corners and head and tail of spine are lightly bumped and worn. Front pastedown has residue of previous owners bookplate which has been removed. Light foxing to endpapers and tissue guard to frontispiece. Internally the books is in very good clean condition, apart from a light watersplash mark to the top edge of the last ten pages of the index, and the binding is sound. 414pp. 173 b/w illustrations, inc. b/w photographic frontispiece. Chapters include sections on planning, implements to use and the grouping and massing of trees and shrubs, hedges, buldings and enclosures, as well as listing suitable trees and shrubs.
