About this title

Synopsis:

A raw, and realistic up-to-date (story opens in March, 2008) novel about life on and off the trading floor. Set in London, within an American investment bank, this is a fast flowing tale about debt and dysfunction, deception, lust, and old fashioned love, where there are as many winners as losers. Or perhaps everyone's a winner. Even the dead.

From the Author:

What was your experience writing it, and how does it relate to other books you've written?
This is the question posed by Amazon for this section.

Laws of Contrition took years to come out of me, and I was kicking and screaming a lot (most) of the way. I had long wanted to write a novel, but life was such that I didn't have the peace and quiet and time to do so, until my youngest left home. When he did, I quit paid work and relocated from London to the coast, where I was out of invitations way so to speak, as I love seeing people. That was in the summer of 2004, and I penned my first words in Feb, 2005. It went through many rewrites, and of course a major one after the debt crisis. And while, as far back as 2007, I kept telling myself I was finished, I kept making changes. Then the debt crisis came along. Thereafter, it was the same again, with my telling myself I was done as far back as late 2009, and yet still I continued to cut swathes of it and rewrite. And then, finally, I realised I was truly done. Suddenly, it felt complete, like it was all over. Tanya was where she needed and wanted to be. She, I realise, was the one I had to satisfy. And she's tough. Not sure I'd want to do battle with her in real life.
