Original cloth, large gilt royal arms to front boards, gilt titles to spines. Some shelfwear and soiling, faint stain to front board of Volume I, internally clean. Ex-library. Location labels to spines, small inkstamps to title pages. A nice copy of an uncommon set. $250. * In 1821 Great Britain assumed control of the European settlements on the Gold Coast. Through a series of wars with local tribes with extensive land holdings, most notably the Akan and Asanti (Ashanti), the colony enlarged its borders during the 1860s and 70s. The Gold Coast Colony became Ghana when it became independent in 1957. A supplement to Gardiner's compilation was published in 1929.
