About this Item

Maps by Samuel H. Bryant. Small 4to. Blue paper over boards with gilt spine lettering, pictorial dust jacket. 415pp. Maps. Very good/very good. Minor jacket edgewear. A tight and quite nice reprint edition, with interesting ephemeral addition: Front pastedown bears the 1984 Civil War Round Table of Chicago membership card of one of its founders, Ralph G. Newman (1911-98), well known as founder of Chicago's noted Abraham Lincoln Book Shop. Warren W. Hassler Jr. critiqued this 1950 study as "A spirited though undocumented account of the Grant-Lee overland campaign of 1864." NEVINS I, 27. Bookseller Inventory # 39211
