Gleaned from over 30 years of the authors' discussions as psychologists with families, The Legacy Conversation addresses issues with the common practices and systems of wealth planning by highlighting the distinction between "Tangibles" and "Intangibles."
Traditional planning generally focuses on the things we can touch; cherished possessions, property, and money, yet families place a higher value on such things as their guiding principles and beliefs, family traditions -- their Wisdom, the family's true legacy.
Drs. Carolyn Friend and James Weiner are co-founders of Inheriting Wisdom, each bringing their unique perspective to this joint authorship. Their interest in the non-financial, intangible legacy of families, individuals and philanthropies led to the creation of Inheriting Wisdom: The Legacy Process that Reaches Across Generations. A husband and wife team, they reside in Chicago.
Dr. Friend's focal point of her professional life is supporting others in developing their resilience. She places an emphasis on personal wisdom when working with individuals from all generations. She holds a doctorate in psychology from Forest Institute of Professional Psychology.
Dr. Weiner is a highly regarded writer, speaker and trainer, with over 100 articles, lectures and workshops to his credit. He combines depth and pragmatism in his work with individuals and families, helping them respond successfully to overcome personal and professional obstacles. He holds a doctorate in psychology from Adler School of Professional Psychology.
