Octavo. Original publisher's dark green cloth-backed light green printed boards. [1] (title), [2] (blank), 3 (characters), 4-7 (text), 8 (contents), 9-160 pp. With publisher's advertisements to endpapers. Boards considerably worn; dampstained; edges quite rubbed, bumped, and chipped. First few leaves slightly dampstained; bookseller's stamp to lower blank margin of title. Early bookseller's label laid down to blank preliminary leaf. First Edition. "Buck's gift lay in his ability to compose music that held popular appeal without sacrificing artistic substance. Engaging lyricism, genteel restraint and stylistic propriety elevated many of his works into cultural icons. His music epitomized the Victorian era in American culture.
