About this title:

Synopsis:

Ricardo Legorreta is without question Mexico's most famous living architect. Rizzoli published the first volume of his work in 1997, which featured such landmarks as his legendary Camino Real Hotel in Mexico City, actor Ricardo Montalban's home in Hollywood, and the Pershing Square redevelopment in downtown Los Angeles. Now in practice with his son Victor, Legorreta continues to expand his firm with new projects throughout the world. There are new houses in Israel, Miami, Brazil, Japan, Reno, Hawaii, California, and, of course, Mexico. Among the thirtyfive projects shown in this volume, the reader will also see the new Visual Arts Center in Santa Fe, New Mexico, the Tech Museum of Innovation in San Jose, California, and the Zandra Rhodes Museum in London. Legorreta is an architect's architect, admired and respected for his ability to create completely modern buildings that remain timeless and classic.

About the Author: Richard Rogers, one of Britain's most famous architects, designed the Pompidou Center (with Renzo Piano) in Paris and the wellknown building for Lloyd's in the City of London.

Fumihiko Maki, one of Japan's most renowned architects, is known for his Austrian Embassy in Tokyo and his National Museum of Modern Art in Kyoto.

José Villagrán was the leader of the modern movement in Mexico and head of the School of Architecture in the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de México. Ricardo Legorreta worked with him for more than ten years before establishing his own practice in 1964.

Angeles Mastreta, one of Mexico's most widely read authors, became world famous with her novel Arráncame la vida, which was translated into nine languages.
