John Gifford is the pseudonym used by John Richards Green. Gifford was a "tory political writer . . . educated at Repton School and . . . St John's College, Oxford . . . becoming a student of Lincoln's Inn" in 1775. "By the age of twenty-three, with his fortune spent, he found it expedient to retire to France in 1781 or 1782, and to change his name to Gifford" (ODNB). Thereafter, he was a prolific writer and editor of magazines. 8vo. [1 (of 2] ff., 171 pp. (lacks the half-title leaf). ESTC T4778. Removed from a nonce volume and respined with archival tissue.
