Disbound pamphlet. 23 pp. (complete, with first leaf imprinted "Mr. Steele's Letter To A Member of Parliament"). Very good, light tidemarkings to the inner corners of the final few leaves. Richard Steele, Irish author and politician, was co-founder of "The Spectator", He was elected to Parliament in 1713 but lost his seat due to his support of the Hanoverian succession. His fortunes quickly turned, howeever, when George I ascended to the British throne and rewarded Steele with a knighthood and put him incharge of the Royal Theatre in Drury Lane.
