About this Item

Two small volumes bound in early full calf bindings, tooled on edges and spines, with double leather spine labels [black and red] on each. Illustrated with 10 engraved portrait plates. Junius was the pseudonym of the author of a series of letters that appeared in the "Public Advertiser" from 1769-1771. Characterized by a tone of bitter scorn and liberal invective, these letters attacked various Tory politicians, as well as the person of Geroge III. The first authorized edition in book form appeared in 1772, this being the second edition. No name, no book-plate, no internal markings, etc. A nice, clean set, internally fresh, with only a hint of rubbing at extremities. Fine set. Bookseller Inventory # 003890
