He had lived Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn and The Gilded Age and Life on the Mississippi and most of Roughing It. But he had not written those books yet. He had not written any books, nor had he ever lectured. This is his first writing of travel; it is his first sustained writing of any kind". ***DESCRIPTION: Green paper boards with a silhouette of a leaf on both front and back boards, black cloth spine with paper spine label, fore and bottom edges rough-trimmed, plain endpapers, pictorial title page in color by Dorothy Grover with additional illustrations at the head of each chapter.
