About this Item

First edition, with errata on the title-page verso: This address to Charles Maurice de Talleyrand-P?rigord was written in response to his report "Libert? des cultes religieux," made to the Assembl?e nationale constituante's Comit? de constitution on 7 May 1791, regarding the Civil Constitution of the Clergy. There was also a Chez Dufresne printing later in the same year. Uncommon: WorldCat and NUC Pre-1956 locate only four U.S. institutional holdings of this first edition. 8vo (21.8 cm, 8.6"). [2], 70 pp. This ed. not in Martin & Walter (cf. IV 2: 8376). Sewn, never bound; title-page with affixed paper shelving label in lower inner corner, not touching text, and with pencilled monogram in upper outer corner. Fore- and bottom edges untrimmed and somewhat ragged; top edges mostly unopened; dust-soiling to outer leaves and untrimmed edges, with corners of a good many untrimmed leaves turned in. A nice copy.
