Synopsis: A brief biography of the nineteenth-century British mathematician, teacher, photographer, and author, best known for his "Alice" books.
From School Library Journal:
Grade 2-3-- Greene includes the major events in both men's lives, sacrificing detail for simple storytelling. The result is two books that are written in language appropriate for beginning readers. The author clearly portrays each man's interest in children, barely alluding to Twain's lack of focus and Carroll's childhood unpopularity. Illustrations are a bit heavy on portraits, especially in Mark Twain , where he looks almost the same throughout his adulthood. Inclusion of pictures from the first printings of Alice in Wonderland and Tom Sawyer will attract children's attention. Time lines briefly outline the highlights. Both books are adequate additions to most collections. --Barbara Lattimer, Yucca Valley Branch Library, CA
