Ford and Company. 1874, 789 pp, 9.5 x 6.75 , 8vo, hardcover 3/4 leather. As-is, with rubbing and wear to boards and spine. Back hinge fully split from text block with interior binding exposed. Text block remains in good condition and bound well. Inscription at front of book. Periodic black-and-white illustrations throughout. General age-related toning to pages, along with periodic foxing and wear. Please see photographs and ask any questions prior to purchasing. An early compilation of poems by Bryant, which would later be made into a 2-volume set. Includes a handwritten inscription thanking a Mrs. Edwards for performing at the school, with the book gifted to her by the senior class, which included the college s first African American graduate, Henry Wilkins Chandler (1852-1938).
