Synopsis: This is a volume of six personal, literary essays. It covers the authors life immediately before and during his professional career in the public mental health system. The author offers not only professional, philosophical, political and economic perspectives, but also several proposals for improving public mental health in America.
About the Author: The author comes from seventeenth century, northern european religious dissenters who sought liberty in America. His American roots are in Indiana, yet he was born in Philadelphia, grew-up in Florida, went to school in Texas, and has lived his adult life in the pacific northwest. He is a licensed mental health counselor and has spent his professional career working in the public mental health system. Dave and his wife, Penny, spend as much time as possible with family throughout the south and midwest--especially with children and grand-children in Ann Arbor and Atlanta, and his parents in Tampa. He holds a BA in American intellectual history and literature from the University of Texas at Austin and an MA in the applied behavioral science program at the Leadership Institute of Spokane and Whitworth College (now a program with the Leadership Institute of Seattle and Saybrooke University). He also completed the nonfiction writing program at the University of Washington.
