About this Item

Original brown cloth with impressed design on front cover. Gilt lettering on spine. 5 1/2 X 7 1/2 inches. 493 pages. Copy has 5 black and white illustrations. Fremont (1813-1890) was an American military officer, explorer and politician. In the early 1840's he made four explorations to the West. In this copy a small oval portrait of Fremont on the front pastedown. Several pages have foxing. Dampstain in the lower corner of copy. Text is not affected. A previous owner wrote notes in the margins of several pages in pencil. Both cover have slight scuffing. A previous owner's name is on a small white sticker on the inside front cover. Also a previous owner impressed his stamp on the first page. No text is affects. Spine is sun faded. Binding is tight. Bookseller Inventory # 018204
