Light rubbing to spine ends, front hinge starting, else very good or better. Presentation inscription from the author on front free endpaper, "Missouri H. Stokes, Mary A.H. Gay, Decauter, Georgia." Missouri Stokes, was the half-sister of Mary Gay and was largely educated by her. Laid in are two printed broadsides containing reviews of the book. One of the seminal books of life in Georgia during the "Sherman times." Margaret Mitchell drew heavily from this work in Gone with the Wind. In Tall Cotton 68.
