About this Item

Octavo. While Mr. Ayer was an important business man, he was most remembered for the enormous collection of books and manuscripts on American history and literature as it pertained to the North American Indian that he gave to Chicago's Newberry Library. A fine, unopened copy, 300pp., bound in light blue cloth lettered in gilt over dark blue cloth, spine and top edge gilt, endpapers are illustrated with redwood trees, housed in publisher's paper covered slipcase showing some finger soiling. A lovely copy. Bookseller Inventory # 017370
