2 volume set (complete) in slipcase. Both volumes in matching three quarters leather bindings (green leather with green cloth) by Riviere & Sons. Housed in a green boards slipcase. Books are in very good condition. Spines are faded two tones towards brown (from original green) from exposure to light. First signs of wear to the hinges showing now, but boards are all firmly attached. Top edge gilt. Bindings signed on verso of marbled endpapers. Pages clean and square, binding tight. Wide margins. Both volume have early 20th century bookplates tucked inside the front covers & rectangular smudges on the inside front covers where the paste has dried up and the bookplates have popped off. 572 pages and 623 pages. There are 7 plates in the first volume and 10 in the second (including frontis). A very attractive set of this early translation.
