About this Item

Red covers with gilt titles and decorations. B ook shows light wear but is bright, square and securely bound. The gilt is especially bright. A copy that is attractive enough for display. Leslie Stephen was the father of Virginia Woolf. He was a journalist and a mountaineer. This book is a biography of the blind Oxford academic Henry Fawcett. It is of special interest because it has a unique cover which reads -- Christmas Queenwood College Second First Class Prize 1885. This copy appears to have been awarded to an outstanding student at Queenwood College, a Ladies College in East Sussex, England. This is still the 1885 First Edition and not the more common 1886 issue, just in a special cover. ; Small 8vo 7½" - 8" tall; 483 pages. Bookseller Inventory # 8951
