510 pp. Only Part I, Part II never printed. Brown cloth boards over brown leather spine and corners has a black crown of thorns under a gilt crown of leaves on the front cover. Spine has five raised bands, gilt lettering and blind-stamped decorations. All edges marbled, matching marbled endpp. Extremities are rubbed, corners are worn. Covers are slightly scuffed, scratched, and stained; leather corners are significantly rubbed. Spine is bumped and chipped at head and foot, raised bands are rubbed. Former bookseller's small neat label appears in the bottom right corner of the rear pastedown. Front free endp. has a small closed tear in the leading edge which has been mended with acid-free tape. Water staining to margins of last leaves. Former owner's name appears in pencil at the top of the fly leaf. Engraved frontispiece, as well as other plates are present and clean, protected by tissue guards. text is very clean, binding is sound and tight.
