About this Item

72 pages. Dimensions: 8.5in. x 5.5in. x 0.2in.The author of A Life of Learning in History tells the story of his life, searching for new experiences and growth while glancing from time to time at events in the parallel universe that surrounded it, to compare his personal aging process of growing up into maturity with the sweep of history. The account of his early development reflected a degree of isolation in his life on the farm in a frontier mountain community, his home schooling, and the isolation of his parents from their neighbors. Involvement in the theater and exposure to the counter-cultural 1960s enhanced his urge to make a difference, which welcomed signs of social transformation. The flavor of his life and travels as an international patent attorney and writer grew out of those beginnings, finding happiness from inner growth, purpose and creative expression in this wonderful world. About this title

Synopsis:

The author of A Life of Learning in History tells the story of his life, searching for new experiences and growth while glancing from time to time at events in the parallel universe that surrounded it, to compare his personal aging process of growing up into maturity with the sweep of history.

About the Author:

Beginning in 1918 on his father's farm in the mountains of British Columbia, Roy V. Jackson can confirm Emerson's saying, "All life is an experiment. The more the better". His chemistry degree from the University of British Columbia, experience as stage and lighting manager in college and community theaters and for tuition money in Vancouver's "Theatre In the Park", service as a lieutenant in the Canadian Army, and a civil law degree from McGill University, were powerful learning experiences. They led to bar memberships in Quebec and Ontario and forty-six years in Toronto, New York, New Brunswick, and Wilmington as an international patent attorney. Accompanying them were a wonderful time in Greenwich Village, a happy marriage since 1970, scuba diving, writing, and instructing and learning at the University of Delaware's Academy of Lifelong Learning.
