Small 8vo. Emerald green cloth with black lettering and gold, white and orange pictorial giltstamping. xix, 384pp. Tissue-guarded frontispiece, 7 full-page illustrations (as called for). Very good. Mildest bit of edgewear. A tight, quite handsome first edition of this memoir by the Polish-born American attorney and Minnesota politician (1842-1927) who fought for the Union in the Civil War. Not in Nevins. Sharp copy of a rather uncommon title often found in less-than-sharp condition. The front board giltstamped Polish flag is striking and bright. Bookseller Inventory # 39347
