Early printing from 1859, the first edition having been published in 1719. Published by Henry G. Bohn, London, 1859. Illustrated with seventy characteristic wood engravings, chiefly after designs by Harvey, and twelve engravings on steel, after Stothard. Measures 4.5" x 7.25", 442 pp. Bound in contemporary calf with raised bands to the spine ends with gilt decorations. Embossed gilt border with dentelles on the edges. Marbled paste-downs, endpapers, and edges. The book is in very good plus antiquarian condition with the only major flaw being a crack at the joint at the bottom of the front board and spine. Minor shelf wear with scuffs to the board edges. The gilt lettering and decorations are vivid and clear. The textblock is remarkably clean and bright with brilliant illustrations.
