About the Author:

REV. JANET MITCHELL HISBON The book, Lifting Up the Senior Spirit springs from eighteen years of work experience in long term care at Lifelink Corporation which includes two years in hospice at Advocate Health Care Network. She is a retired minister of the United Church of Christ, ordained in the African Methodist Episcopal church, held dual standing in both denominations while serving as chaplain and director of pastoral care for Lifelink Corporation, Bensenville, Il, currently still active in both. She served as pastor at St. John U.C.C. church in Bensenville, Illinois in 2003-2009. She was instrumental in the first merger of three small U.C.C. churches to form a larger, viable congregation in 2009. Janet holds a Master of Divinity in Pastoral Care and Counseling from Northern Baptist Theological Seminary, postgraduate certificates in Transformational Leadership from the U.C.C. Council of Health and Human Service Ministries and Fundraising Management from DePaul University and certificates in Gerontological studies from various colleges. She has served on the Advisory Council of the Chicago Suburban Agency on Aging and has developed several older adult ministries. Her career life includes minister, counselor, writer, public speaker and entrepreneur. She and her husband, Billy have three daughters and four grandchildren and were caregivers to three of their parents.
