Synopsis: Lighten Up, George, by Buchwald, Art

From Library Journal: Buchwald's ( Whose Rose Garden Is It, Anyway? , LJ 11/1/89) latest collection of irreverent musings, political and otherwise, deserves a prominent place in the bathroom magazine rack alongside the latest issue of Reader's Digest . That way a daily reading of one or two pieces is inevitable and more than a welcome relief. Of course, distressed librarians may recoil at such an exhortation, citing unsanitary conditions and a greater likelihood of the book being returned overdue. Nonetheless, how else is such an anthology of Buchwald's columns to be read? Certainly not in one sitting (so to speak). In this compilation, he muses on how it is now possible to conduct a television news interview without the subject of that interview answering a single question. He also points out the most common phrase attributed to today's heroes: "I don't remember." An obvious choice for Buchwald aficionados and collections of contemporary humor. Previewed in Prepub Alert, LJ 7/91.
