First printing of this poem by the future Presidet of the United States. Broadside, printed on one side. 6" by 9 1/2". Subtitled "From Glasgow to New York, August 27 to September 7, 1896". The broadside prints a drawing and poems by Prof. Woodrow Wilason and Dr. W.C. Biting. Wilson's 12-line poem begins "The man who was never daunted/ by summons to regale/ Nor yielded up nor fainted, Our lusty Nightingale". Printed as a souvenir of a shipboard dinner, honoring A.F. Nightingale. Nightengale became an administrator in the Chicago school system and Bitting was the pastor of the Second Bapist church of St. Louis. A rare example of WIlson, the Poet.
