About this Item

This is a coffee table book whose text is not only worth reading but it is from books written by a prized American historian, Van Wyck Brooks. The five books excerpted for the text are "The World of Washington Irving," "The Flowering of New England," "The Times of Melville and Whitman," "New England Indian Summer" and "The Confident Years." All the sketches and portraits are amply illustrated with photos, drawings, and evocative textual references. The volume is clean and tight, still in FINE condition. The DJ is whole and unmarked, but has minor chipping at top and bottom near the spine. A handsome volume, still in collectable condition. Prevous owner's signatures handwritten at bottom of title page. Bookseller Inventory # 120311
