About the Author

I read a lot, well, maybe not as much as you do, but still, quite a lot. I read good books, I mostly stick to classics and prize winners. I've read all of the Man Booker winners and at least 1 book by more than half the Nobel winners (I'm going somewhere with this, I promise). One thing I noticed in many of these books is that these great authors love to reference each other. As a reader, I've always loved this. When Nabokov writes about Turgenev, when Theroux name-drops Bowles, when Borges models Cervantes I am both enthralled and rewarded. This was the inspiration for my own novel. I wanted to write a novel that unabashedly and repeatedly referenced other famous writers, books and other works of literature. A novel completely permeated with antecedent literature.
