Howell Jr., great nephew of the author. His signature and someof his thoughts about the author are written on the first free endpaper. Faded red cloth binding with title on frontboard in gold. Lower front corner noticeably bumped. Edgewear and light soil. illustrated title, text pages are printed on coated paper stock, slightly oxidized. Shields were originally designed and ornamented, which would serve to distinguished the bearer when he was too far away to be recognixed by his features. Illustrated. Nice tight binding.
