Hardcover. Brown pictorial binding with red spine. In fair condition, especially considering age, with heavy wear and fading around covers and spine. Bumped top and bottom of spine and bumped corners on front and back covers. Heavy wear and tearing around book edgings. Front and back end-papers and free end-papers discolored from binding glue. Front and back book boards are pulling away from spine and text block. Inscription in black ink on front free end-paper and first fly-leaf reads " Mollie E. Byrne from Cousin Mary, Christmas 1879". Front free end-paper is very wrinkled and worn and torn around edging. Some foxing present on first fly-leaf. Protective clear sheet between color plate and title page is torn and wrinkled and pulling from binding. Title page and index page are torn around edgings and wrinkled. 380 pages. Contains numerous black and white illustrations as well as one color illustration plate opposite title page. Includes a collection of stories for children.
