Synopsis: In a squalid attic flat in the the freezing darkness of a Huddersfield winter, Malcolm Scrawdyke and his fellow Northern art students smoke and rehearse their revolutionary assault upon authority. According to Malcolm, the choice is simple: 'Freedom or serfdom'. The manifesto established, the 'Party of Dynamic Erection' begins its surreal offensive upon the eunuchs (dunces) who stand in the way of inevitable triumph. David Halliwell's classic play is set in the Sixties, an age given over to youth and rebellion.

Book Description Faber & Faber, 1967. Hardcover. Book Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. A very good clean tight copy, textually unmarked, of the first hardback edition, in nice boards and a very good unclipped dustjacket. This is an ex-library copy, but still in very good condition. The only library evidence is of small stamps on the front and rear of the title page, and the first and last pages of text, plus small class number on printed tape on jacket spine. The outer edge of the rear endpaper has a small sellotape mark strip, no doubt from the previous protective cover to the dustjacket. Slight darkening to page edges, especially top edges, but overall a nice copy of the uncommon first edition of this noted play. Bookseller Inventory # 1398
