About this Item

[12] p.: color illustrations; 15 cm. Printed on limp linen, stitched. Not identified as part of any of the publisher's series. No date of publication; however, the publisher was at 30 Beekman, the address on the front wrapper, from 1864 to 1870. This is not the little old woman who lived in a shoe, but rather the old woman who "lived upon nothing but Victuals and drink." The eight leaves containing "The Little Old Woman" are followed by two leaves containing the Taylors' "The Dunce of a Kitten" on the first page and the alphabet on the last. The facing two pages are coated with a white substance that has partially flaked off; neither page was ever printed. This version of the poem "The Dunce of a Kitten" varies from a version found in other McLoughlin publications, both in punctuation and in words. In Good Condition: edges are fraying but no significant loss; old dampstaining along upper and lower edges. A very scarce version of this amusing poem by McLoughlin Brothers.
