16 volumes complete. Includes the often-lacking 16th volume, the later released appendix of 1898. Brick cloth gilt with generally square tight bindings and clean interiors. This is the 2nd edition of the Hodges printing (1872-1877), issued during the same era as the 1st edition. This is NOT the 1914 Grant reprint. Condition ranges from good to very good depending on volume. Bindings with beautiful gilt illustrations on front boards and gilt to spine. Mild rubbing and edge wear. Spines a touch darkened with age but still quite handsome. A few small closed tears to cloth on edges. Volume 16, the appendix, with a larger closed tear along spine edge and left side of front panel, crudely repaired. Overall, a lovely, desirable set. Bookseller Inventory #
