A exquisite facsimile of a miniature Book of Hours (4.8 × 3.2 cm). The original manuscript was written and illuminated in the very early 1500's in France.The prayer book contains 14 full page miniatures, the remaining 294 pages contain 21 lines of text each, 100's of golden initials on colored backgrounds. The borders contain sprouting flowers, insects, dolphins and elaborated candelabra-like structures. The miniatures depict the life of Christ, from the birth of the Savior in the stable to his death on the cross.This is truly a magnificent production. The binding features, two silver clasps attached to soft brown leather featuring gold tooling in à la fanfare style it dates from the early 1600's when it was rebound. It comes with a miniature magnifying glass and a 208 page commentary in German. All in a green linen covered case.As new. Seller Inventory # ABE-1625253621454
