About this Item

Ten colored lithographs by T. Picken after G.S. Sheperd in the Guildhall Library. R. Ackermann's Series 1851. In a soft, red cover with fold-over tabs at the top and bottom. The pages appear to be glued into the spine in book fashion. The title is in blue and black. There is an introduction and explanatory notes by R.N. Hyde. These ten lithographs have sat in their folder/cover since 1972, undisturbed other than for a single viewing and are completely unmarked, like new. The cover has a vague dark mark on the front but is otherwise clean and whole. The colored lithographs depict Windsor Castle, View from Richmond Hill, St. Paul's Cathedral, Westminster Abbey, The Royal Exchange and Bank of England, The Mansion House Looking Towards Cheapside, The Club Houses of Pall Mall, The Horse Guards, Buckingham Palace, and View of Regent Street, Drawing Room Day. See the famous sights of London as they appeared in 1852, long before postcards, in large-lithograph format. Each lithograph is titled at the bottom and is preceded by a page on which the sight is explained and numbered. Bookseller Inventory # 000528
