Synopsis: It's 1974, and a popular band called Snowblind is busy touring the Midwest club circuit. Even though they're polished, hardworking and in demand, the grueling circuit is starting to take its toll. It seems their only way out lies in the songwriting skills of Duncan Dupree. But band leader Michael Maxwell wants nothing to do with original music or climbing the ladder to the next level. Because he's the only one content with their position as top dogs on the circuit, conflict erupts. But it doesn't stop there. Snowblind sets off on yet another tour, and quickly confirms that road trips rarely go by without a hitch. When traveling with musicians, Duncan knows chaos is guaranteed. "Having been on the road since I was eighteen," he says, "I have not only gotten used to it, I've come to expect it." Along the way Snowblind encounters many unexpected surprises. Some exhilarating and often times funny, others so disturbing that Duncan begins to question his life as a musician, wondering if the risks-those unforeseen predicaments that could frighten even the hardiest adventurer into cowering and turning back-are worth the rewards. Long Journey, Short Steps is a dramatic, character-driven story about goals and obstacles, friendships created and challenged, lessons learned and truths brought to light. And it's about discovering that earned rewards can be something more amazing than ever imagined; something that would make any risk seem slight and insignificant. "To stay inside, frightened of cruel weather," Duncan says, "would mean missing out on the rainbow after the storm. And I've always felt that standing in a soggy field, drenched to the bone, was the only way to view a rainbow."
