Tolkien - Part I - The Fellowship of the Ring (Seventh Impression, 1973); Part II - The Two Towers (Sixth Impression, 1971); Part III - The Return of the King (Seventh Impression, 1973). Overall a very good to near fine set, each with their original map to the rear in fine condition. Apart from 'The Return of the King', that has a few light spots to the back board, all cloth covers are clean and bright with bright gilt lettering to the spines, all corners are sharp and all pages are clean and clear with no creases, tears or annotations. All three jackets unclipped with no tears or loss, a touch of fading to the spines, mainly The Two Towers, very light scuffing to the extremes of the spines and light rubbing to each rear panel, see photos. There's evidence of previous prices being rubbed out to each corner of ffep and previous owner's bookplate 'A L Parris' and small green Foyles book sticker beneath to the front end board. A very handsome set for any collection. More pictures available on request. Bookseller Inventory #

Synopsis: In ancient times the Rings of Power were crafted by the Elven-smiths, and Sauron, the Dark Lord, forged the One Ring, filling it with his own power so that he could rule all others. But the One Ring was taken from him, and though he sought it throughout Middle-earth, it remained lost to him. After many ages it fell into the hands of Bilbo Baggins, as told in THE HOBBIT. In a sleepy village in the Shire, young Frodo Baggins finds himself faced with an immense task, as his elderly cousin Bilbo entrusts the Ring to his care. Frodo must leave his home and make a perilous journey across Middle-earth to the Cracks of Doom, there to destroy the Ring and foil the Dark Lord in his evil purpose.
