271 pages plus ads. A romance novel in which a lawyer asks a young woman to marry a rich client, try the relationship out for one year with no obligation, and then decide to stay or go. This is the first of two novels by Corley, a New York magazine writer who later became a district supervisor of the Greensboro, North Carolina, Federal Writers? Project (see Lesser-Known Writers blog). Corley (nee Works) met the aspiring writer and illustrator Donald Corley in 1916 and married him three days later. They split up within a year. First edition (first printing; while normally a reprint house, in this case, according to copyright records, G&D was the first and only publisher). A very good copy in a very good dust jacket. Quite an attractive copy. Bookseller Inventory # 132755
