About this Item

First edition.Bump and slight foxing to the rear board, a little wear at the tips and a peel spot front board from removal of a sticker.INSCRIBED on the first blank: 'To Mrs. Edison -- With all kind greetings from-- Carolyn Wells-- May 1913' A slim volume, in paper covered boards illustated with two lovers astride winged hearts being led by Cupid. It is a 'travel guide' to the mythic land of Arcardy which, according to the map on page 35, is just over the Delectable Mountains from the Land of Hearts Desire and is bordered by the State of Matrimony and the Sea of Dreams. (Wait, there's more): Arcady is transversed by the Road To Wealth and the River Lethe, is just over the Great Divide from the State of Blessed Singleness.(You can't make this stuff up.) This copy is ex the Upsala College Library (with its bookplate on the front pastedown and stamp on the title page. Upsala College was in East Orange, New Jersey which increases the possibility that the women to whom this copy is inscribed is indeed Mrs. Thomas Edison. Bookseller Inventory # 093
