About this Item

8vo. Modern full calf, raised bands with gilt borders and center flower, title in upper panel. The spine has green morocco label with author, title and date in gilt. Collation: [iv] 1-126 [2-ad for present book by Le Begue] pp. + 3 folding copper engraved plates. There is repair to the title page where a portion of the lower right corner is missing. A piece of light brown paper has been pasted on the verso of the title page and the fore edge reinforced with a strip of paper on verso. This is a large paper, uncut copy that is very clean. The only exception is a brown paper flaw on p. 13/14 at the lower edge of the last text line. There is a repair to a tear into the plate area of the second plate. The area affected only involves the double line border and not any of the main images. This treatise provides a new method for extracting more abundant and finer oil from olives. The author provides information on a new mill invented for domestication of olive oil extraction which yields not only a larger quantity of oil but an oil that is free of rancidity.
