Original manuscript diary of a young girl living in Massachusetts in 1850. From the contents she appears to be 14 or 15 years old. Her name is possibly Angelie Dearborn as that name is written repeatedly on slips of paper laid in the diary. Her sister appears to have been Emily , Lyman a brother and she has a cousin Emma. She attends Middleboro Academy in the summer months while attending school in the rest of the year where she studies arithmetic and rhetoric and so on. Her family lives near Boston, Salisbury, Newburyport and Dover as trips are made to these places frequently. Numerous familiar Massachusetts surnames are mentioned including Bancroft, Blodgett, Bartlett, Kendrick and so on. The handwriting is very neat but about a quarter of the pages are hard to read due to fading of the ink. About 20 pages are blank .Fully handwritten in ink. Octavo, 103pp., 1/2 leathr and marbled boards. Good, light wear. Typical schoolgirl content. Bookseller Inventory #
